Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band’s Columbia box set “The Promise: The Darkness On The Edge Of Town Story” 2010 has five photographs taken Dec. 7th, 1978 in Austin, TX. At that time I was unknown and snuck cameras and lenses in with the help of friends. That all changed after a concert in Dallas when I gave Bruce Jackson, Bruce’s sound engineer a box of b/w prints I had taken at the show a night or two earlier and Bruce graciously said, “These are good; I will show them to Bruce.” The phone rang a day or two later and numerous photographs were used in the songbook for “The River”. After that Bruce Jackson or Bruce’s management gave me photo passes which led to numerous photographs being used in other releases, cover of the War single in several books, magazines, press release material for his record company and online. Bruce Jackson tragically died in Jan 2011 and his family lost a husband and father and the world of music lost one of the most innovative, gracious, humble men to work in the industry. It is a well known that the two Bruce’s would walk all over an arena or stadium checking the sound and if the sound was not right it was up to Bruce to solve the problem so the other Bruce’s fans would have the best possible experience. Thank you Bruce for opening the door for me to the other Bruce.

Many of these were taken with the benefit of stage passes or access to the front/back of the stage. Other performers were photographed once when they passed through Austin, San Antonio, Dallas or Houston.
